  THE PARADOX OF SPARLOCK

  some people are mad with the production of the latest wt dvd for children... i am quite happy with it .

  with the creation of that character the wt has created a big paradox that they cant refute as old light since its new.. lets look at the following scenarios:.

  not according to the dvd therefore they have to trash the wt dvd.

  Got My First Shunning Last Night - And I am NOT Even a JW!!!

  wow!!.

  last night i go to the grocery store and see this guy, always been a nice guy, always says "hello, how have you been, we mised you at the hall" crap.

  and i say "never been better, nice to see you" you know the ususal pleasantries.... not last night.. we go into the store almost simultaneously (from different directions) and as soon as he sees me he dashes towards the shopping carts.

  Is the guy a Witness? Could it be that HE'S been disfellowshipped and was trying to avoid having YOU speak to HIM?

  Can't say for sure, but it was meeting night and the guy was still in a suit - in all likelyhood still in (way in )

  I may have left the impression that I care, or was hurt in any way.

  For the record, I don't give a flying f%#k; just thought it was odd to shun a non-JW. By the same logic, they shouldn't talk to 99.9% of people around them...

  guess my first post won't show up due to ie, so trying again.... .

  wondering what signs to look for if i suspect in-laws are planning to shun my husband.

  he has not been to kh since his teen (20+) years and i am not a jw.

  To further what wannabefree says, if he is baptized and you are not, his "headship" may create additional tension in the process if he is ever lured back. I am not saying this to discourage you; just be aware of it and be prepared to address it if need be...

  Wish you the best of luck in resolving this.

  EDIT: I see you responded that he is baptized. BTW, there is no such thing as "was" baptized. Unless disfellowshipped (by the JWs), or dissassociated (on his own), he "is" still baptized, albeit an inactive one...

  We go into the store almost simultaneously (from different directions) and as soon as he sees me he dashes towards the shopping carts. I noded at him in acknowledgment of seeing him, he just pretended he'd never seen me in his life.

  They must be brainwashing the hell out of the poor people!

  As for me, I have never been a JW (still an UBM with a very successfully faded Mrs).

  Never made it past Chapter 10 of the God Teach Book, and apparently, we discontinued "Studeis" are spiritually dangerous now.

  Any other non-JW seen that?

  "...they (khs) are built with donations made to a central fund.

  in every kingdom hall, there is another contribution box for kingdom hall construction worldwide.

  It's only the last 3 years or so that they stopped charging interest.

  I would love to know (really) why. Not the bull$hit "simplified", "blessing", "new light", "adjustment" crap.

  They never do things "out of the goodness of their hearts". I suspect there was some government inquiry into it, maybe the FTC or so, because defacto they are running a massive bank operation without the proper licensing and regulations.

  Does anyone has more info on it?

  you ask:

  the congregation must sign a contract saying the property goes to the Watchtower Society if the congregation ever dissolves.

  The property goes under the WT umbrella regardless, as OTWO described above. It is the missappropriation of funds I was fuming about. This Worldwide KH Fund is nothing more than a giant piggybank and WT leadership uses it to make loans instead of simply distribute it where needed without recourse or strings attached .

  Interested,

  When you make a donation to the homeless shelter, do you expect them to buy some food and only give it to the hungry if they sign a contract to pay it back?

  When you support your cancer research org, would you be OK if the money is used to find a cure and the cure is given to cancer patients only if they sign a legal contract to reimburse the cancer research org for the spent money that was given to them as donations in a first place?

  See where I am going with this...

  who are doing jehovah's will today?.

  something i found a bit strange - that is the title of the brochure but on page three it asks - what is god's will?

  and it says "god wants us to live in peace and happiness on a paradise earth forever!".
